Terms of Service

Draft, not yet in force. Crescendo is pre-launch and is not accepting live payments. This document is published so it can be reviewed and completed with qualified advice before any money is taken. It does not yet form a binding agreement.

What Crescendo is

Crescendo is a platform where fans contribute money towards a specific video idea that a creator has published. If the creator accepts the idea and publishes a video that meets the published requirements, Crescendo pays the creator. If the request is declined, cancelled, or the deadline passes, contributions are refunded under the refund policy.

Crescendo is not a party to any agreement between a fan and a creator beyond operating the platform, handling payment, and reviewing whether a submitted video meets the published requirements.

Backing is support, not an investment

Contributing to a request does not buy ownership, equity, a security, a revenue share, a licence, or a guaranteed personal service. You are supporting a proposed video. You may receive public backer credit and updates where the creator offers them.

How money is handled

Your card is charged when you back a request. Crescendo receives that payment into its own account with its payment provider and records the creator’s share in an internal ledger. No money is sent to the creator until a Crescendo reviewer has verified the published video against the frozen request requirements.

Crescendo does not operate an escrow service, a trust account, or a safeguarded client-money account, and makes no safeguarding representation. Funds held before payout form part of Crescendo’s own balance with its payment provider.

Creator control

Creators decide which requests exist and which to accept. A creator is never obliged to accept a request, and declining triggers refunds rather than any penalty to the fan. Creators must not be pressured into conduct they have not agreed to; requests that do so are rejected under the Community Guidelines.

Fees

A Crescendo service fee is added at checkout and is shown before you pay. A platform fee is deducted from the creator’s share on completed, paid requests. The exact rates in force are recorded against each contribution and confirmed to creators during onboarding. Rates may change for future contributions; they are never recalculated retrospectively.

Verification

Before a creator page can receive money, the creator proves control of the linked social account by placing a Crescendo-issued code in the public profile bio, which a reviewer checks manually. This proves control of the account at a point in time. It is not identity verification. Legal identity and bank details are checked by our payment provider before any payout.

Prohibited use

Requests that are illegal, dangerous, sexual, humiliating, hateful, medical, gambling-related, self-harm-related, or otherwise contrary to the Community Guidelines are rejected. Crescendo may suspend a request or an account, halt a payout, and start refunds where it considers it necessary.

Liability

Crescendo does not guarantee that any request will be funded, accepted, completed, or approved. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. These terms will be governed by the law of England and Wales once they are finalised.
